I had .12 cents in my checking acct. (A true humiliating story)… 3 minute riff.

It was 8 yrs ago.

December 2003.

About two weeks before Christmas Day.

I was at the local Giant Eagle grocery store.

Just buying some stuff.

When it happened.

Declined.

Swiped card again.

Declined.

Did it again.

Declined.

You have NO idea how humiliating it is to be in line
at the grocery store and NOT have the funds in your acct,
to pay for the basics, like milk, bread and eggs.

I had no choice but to leave the food behind.

More so in anger and shame than anything else.

I walked out the store as fast as I could, never
wanting to return again.

I was 30 yrs old.

And I couldn’t even afford less than $20 worth of food.

I raced back to my house to check my available balance,

Thats when REALITY shined its ugly face on me.

I was BROKE.

30 yrs old, on my own, mortgage to pay, food to buy, utilities
to maintain and I was penniless.

Unless you qualify having .12 cents to your name anything else.

Fast fwd to 12.31.03

I signed the papers to file Chapter 7 Bancruptcy at 11 am.

It was official.

I was BROKE.

Happy New Year to me.

Yippy!

Now…

Question to YOU.
